New Job Club for Deaf people in Leicester

Press Release

Signing Network’s new service – Job Search Help in British Sign Language

On 10th July 2012 between 10am and 1.00pm we will be holding an event to launch the Signing Network’s Deaf 2 Work Club. All deaf residents in Leicester City, who are currently unemployed, are invited to attend the new service to receive advice and support in British Sign Language.

Wayne Brewin, project co-ordinator for the Deaf 2 Work Club, said “Feedback from the community shows that the best way to find another job is through friends, family or social networks so we have set up a Job Club which will help people expand their network of contacts whilst also acting as a support group.

The Job Club will meet at the Signing Network’s office, Northbridge Place, 12 Frog Island, Leicester, LE3 5BG every Wednesday between 10am and 1.00pm, it is free to attend.

Signing Network’s Deaf 2 Work Club members will be able to share in each other’s job-hunting and career experiences and encourage each other in the search for a new job.

A series of mini workshops will offer advice on interview technique, CV and cover letter writing, presentation skills, networking skills and volunteering opportunities. It will be delivered in British Sign Language – the community’s language, the course leader is also deaf.”

If you would like to attend the launch to find out more about the Signing Network’s Deaf 2 Work Club or are interested in becoming a member please contact Wayne Brewin (email) on  or Tony Barlow (email) or SMS to 07970 418211.
